A Clarification

I do not bully or neglect my stepchild. I do not withhold food or water or other necessities. 

But, I don't give him my full heart. I just haven't figured out how to do that.

I thought that it would come naturally - like some switch would flip after so much time together under one roof - but it's been 5+ years and I still haven't had that epiphany. 

So, it's time to do the work. I have to stop waiting for inspiration to strike and instead actively work towards the goal of creating connection with my stepson each and every day.
